Dedicated to producing premium, cool climate wines with a particular interest in alternative varieties.

The wines are subtle and elegant, with excellent fruit characters arising from the long, slow ripening period and our commitment to hand pruning, hand picking and low cropping. High natural acidity gives the wines a clean finish and good cellaring potential.

Our “Yaraandoo” vineyard is located near the historic village of Berrima in the Southern Highlands, an emerging cool climate region in New South Wales, at the relatively high altitude of 715 metres.

Although the vineyard is young, with the first plantings in 2000, it has produced outstanding fruit from the start. Our first real vintage was 2005 and the first wine we completed (the ’05 Tertini Riesling) won a Gold Medal and a Trophy in the first wine show we entered! Each wine and vintage since then has brought more medals from wine shows and accolades from Australia’s leading wine writers.

These outstanding results from young vines show great promise for the future and confirm the potential of both the vineyard and the region.

Our viticulturist is a cool climate/Southern Highlands specialist who applies all his knowledge to obtaining the best possible results in the vineyard. We hand prune and then hand pick to ensure that only the best fruit is selected each year. Our winemakers are also cool climate specialists who apply their expertise and experience through careful, meticulous handling in the winery.

Cellar Door: We welcome visitors to our Cellar Door from 10am – 5pm every Thursday – Monday, or other times by appointment. The Cellar Door is attached to our winery which is just 6 minutes from Mittagong on Kells Creek Road (off Wombeyan Caves Road).

Diamond Creek Estate Wines are produced only from estate grown grapes.

Established in 1997, Diamond Creek Estate is an award winning family owned and operated vineyard and olive grove.

Diamond Creek Estate is situated on the northern slopes of Mittagong, around 120 kms south of Sydney, in the Southern Highlands region of New South Wales.

The property for many years was dairy country, enjoys rich basalt soil, northern sun and although at an altitude of 680 metres, it has an unique topography, which leaves it relatively immune from frost.

This creates an ideal microclimate for cultivating premium quality, cool climate wine grapes and the finest olives for extra virgin olive oil.

The vineyard occupies around 15 acres and a similar area is dedicated to olive trees.

The vines are subject to intensive management for improvement, hand pruned and leaf-plucked as required. They are personally tended, cropped for optimised yields to produce premium quality cool climate wine grapes.

The region, although the newest recognized geographical indication, is fast being acknowledged as a premium cool climate area and this is consistent with our objective to produce first class wines that will compete with any in Australia and overseas.
Sutton Forest Estate Wines is a second generation family owned property. The Lo Russo family has been associated with the Southern Highlands for the past 26 years.

We have combined our Italian background in grape growing and the rich soil and cool climate of the region, to produce premium quality wines, unique to the Southern Highlands of NSW.

Our trademark, Sutton Forest Estate Wines, derives from “Sutton Forest Village” which has a significant place in early Australian history. The village was first settled in the 1820’s at which time is was located on the outskirts of the colony.

Grape vineyards take careful thought and planning and the right vine varieties need to be planted in the right soils and the right regions.

In 2002 with appreciation for fine wines, Nick and Santina Lo Russo in consultation with leading local viticulturists Darren Corradi, started the long process of producing premium quality wines.

Our vines are hand pruned, and our grapes are hand picked. From these vines we produce intensely flavoured wines, that are true to their variety, in the Southern Highlands region.
