Dan Murphy's Southern Highlands Food & Wine Festival 15 & 16 September 2012

The Festival will showcase not only the region’s exceptional food and wine, local produce, arts and crafts and retail outlets , but will also play host to one of three Regional NSW BBQ Challenges (www.nswbbqchallenge.com.au ), a new initiative in association with Inland NSW Tourism, funded by Destination NSW, aimed at finding the best BBQ cook in NSW and to highlight the abundance of food and wine experiences available across inland NSW.
Renowned BBQ cookbook author Kim Terakes and ‘The Wine Man’, Peter Bourne will be on hand to provide food and wine commentary as well as share their expertise. Musical entertainment will be provided by the appropriately named, BBQ Kings and the delightful Jazz croons of Ella’s Holiday.
Inland NSW Tourism CEO, Graham Perry comments “The purpose of the BBQ Challenge is to encourage people to explore beyond their own backyard, while having fun engaging in one of Australia’s favourite pastimes – barbequing – and discovering just what Inland NSW has to offer in terms of activities and attractions.”
This BBQ extravaganza will be complimented by the festivals delicious undercover food court and a posse of talented award winning local chefs showcasing their culinary talents including; Richard Kemp owner and executive chef of the multi hatted Eschalot Restaurant, James Viles owner and executive Chef of Biota Dining, recipient of a coveted Chef’s Hat in its first year of opening in 2011 and named Time Out Sydney’s ‘Best Outta Town Restaurant ’, Warrick Brook, multi hatted executive Chef of the beautiful Montfort’s of Peppers Craigieburn and Mark Stone , Chef Patissier of Stones Patisserie.
The tantalizing wines of the region, including International award winning Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon varietals will be available for tastings throughout the festival with many a case finding a spot in the car boot for savoring post festival!
Event Manager, Carla Offord of Southern Highlands Corporate Events adds, ‘We are so pleased that a festival of this theme and caliber is to premier in The Southern Highlands in September 2012. There is already a keen interest in tickets and the excitement is definitely building among our local contributors who will be taking part.
